Durian feast

Yesterday and tonight Mummy brought home durians. Durian? At this time of the year? Is it durian season?

Oh how I love durian! I am smelling a durian carefully so I don't get pricked by the thorns.

We are investigating the durians and mangosteen.

Now waiting patiently for the durain feast to begin...

Trip to Medan

Buttercup was in Medan, Indonesia, for a whole week. Medan is the third largest city in Indonesia. It is also the capital of North Sumatra. The photo showed that the road was flooded with rain water.

The workers were trying to fill up the pot holes with sand so that cars can drive through.

Buttercup is back home now and everything is back to normal for us.

Cookie swallowed 1 meter long string

Mummy came home from work and found Cookie munching on long black string coming out of the red dog house. Mummy quickly pulled out the string from Cookie's mouth. After about 1 meter of string came out from Cookie's throat, it got stuck in Cookie's mouth. Mummy managed to break free at the end of the string. And Cookie coughed out a few times.

The next day in the evening, after meal Cookie went to poo. A long string came out of her anus and was stuck half-way. Mummy helped her to pull out the string. In order for Cookie to relax so that the string can come out, Buttercup helped to soothe Cookie while Mummy slowly pulled the string out. About 1 meter of the string finally came out together with the poo! It was not a pretty sight.

Teeth Cleaning

As Mummy and Buttercup are very worried about keeping our teeth clean, we now have a series of teeth cleaning agents.
1. Cinnamon & Tea Tree Oil Toothpaste - A natural way to clean pet's teeth and gums and keep pet's mouth fresh and healthy.
2. Enzymatic Toothpaste - Active ingredients Glucose Oxidase and Lactoperoxidase
3. PlaqueOff - Contains only especially selected seaweed. Effective against bad breath, tartar and plaque.
4. Biotene - Enzymatic brushless oral solution. Drinking water additive. Helps to remove plaque and inhibit odor causing bacteria.

Our teeth are brushed daily, Thursday and Sunday we have bones to chew to further clean our teeth, Biotene is added to our drinking water once every four days. We have just finished the PlaqueOff treatment and Mummy is still thinking whether to continue with it or not.

Brown Rice For Dinner

Instead of eating oatmeal for dinner, Mummy has decided to give us Thai organic brown rice. The brown rice is so fragrant and taste so good! I love it very much. Better than the oatmeal.

Brown rice is simply white rice that has not had the brown-colored bran covering removed. So brown rice is considered a whole grain. Brown rice contains fiber, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, zinc, carbohydrate and protein.

Cookie lost a bottom front tooth

Yesterday evening Buttercup noticed that Cookie has lost her bottom tooth. She must have lost it while jumping and barking at the workers outside. She has another two shaky bottom teeth and a shaky top front tooth. Mummy has this idea that once Cookie loses all her front teeth, she would not be able to nip at children and strangers anymore.

Lost Maltese Returned to Home

This morning we walked to Serangoon Garden. On the way we met a lost old male maltese. He has no collar on him. He made friend with us and followed us around. Mummy and Buttercup got worried that he was lost. So Buttercup went around home to home asking if he was belonging to them. We saw a house with two domestic workers washing a car and an old lady with hair curlers, Buttercup asked if the dog belonged to them. Yes! The domestic workers opened up the gate and the old lady thanked us. The poor dog was lost and nobody in the house noticed it.

We continued our journey to Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and have a wonderful breakfast in the morning. What a nice day!

Singapore Botanic Gardens

Today is a public holiday, Hari Raya Puasa. Early in the morning at 7:30 am, we set our journey to Singapore Botanic Gardens.

I took a photo in front of this lake with swans swimming in it. Buttercup thought she saw a big water creature moving in the muddy water.

We were patiently waiting for Buttercup to return from getting us some breakfast.

We were having papaya prepared by Wonder Woman and Dragon Lady.

Cookie hurts her gum

Last night when Buttercup was vacuuming, Cookie went to bite on the vacuum nozzle and hurt her gum. Blood was everywhere. Mummy quickly used ice to stop the bleeding. Cookie was a very good dog, she was calm and licked clean her blood. After five minutes her bleeding stopped. There was a dent on her top gum.

Mummy said that any more accidents with her doggies, she will faint. As she doesn't want to see any more blood coming out from us.

My friend Bobbie

Here's my friend Bobbie. He likes to jump up and down sofa and table. His Mummy has called my Mummy in three occasions for the vet's telephone number to go to the vet because Bobbie has sprained/dislocated his legs. One time he jumped into the bath tub and stayed there for the whole day as he couldn't get out.

My Wounded Left Leg

When I woke up from the anaesthesia at 3:00 pm, I saw Mummy and Buttercup. I was quiet and tired. I got a 2.0 cm deep cut into my muscle wound on my left leg. For the next seven days I can only do short walks. I can not jump onto the sofa, or stand on my hind legs. The vet did such a good job on cleaning up my wound. I am on antibiotics for the next seven days.

Billie Jean is bitten by JRT, Winston

Billie Jean was at the dog run this morning. There was a JRT, Winston, playing fetch ball. Then he dropped his ball next to B J’s drinking cup, and started to drink the water. B J went over to smelled his ball. Winston got so possessive of his ball and he started to fight B J. B J quickly submitted! Winston’s owner quickly pulled up Winston who was showing his aggression. I didn’t know B J was bitten at the left leg. So I quickly walked B J out of the dog run. Nicki’s Mummy pointed out to me that B J was limping. And I saw blood gushing out of her left leg. I quickly carried B J in my arm and Nicki’s Mummy came to rescue. We cleaned up the wound, poured water over it, and wiped it with tissue paper. B J was traumatized. As I was so traumatized myself, I did not take down Winston’s owner’s handphone number.

Now B J is at the vet. Her left leg was shaved so that the vet can check her wound thoroughly. B J is so scared that her gum appears whitish, not pinkish. My T-shirt is bloody from carrying B J. Painkiller is injected. She is sedated and the wound will be stitched up. I will be picking her up from the vet later this afternoon.

Oil Painting of Billie Jean and Cookie

Ninja's Mummy went to Saigon, Vietnam this week. She brought back for us an oil painting by local Vietnamese painter! Isn't it beautiful? I look kind of fierce in the painting.... but I am actually very friendly.

This is Cookie eyeing the mooncakes.

This is me hoping to get a bite of the mooncakes. Sometimes I drool...

Cookie Posting

Cookie on a see-saw. She loves doing agility, and very good at it. I don't do agility as Mummy is afraid that I may hurt my backbones.

It's been awhile since I posted Cookie's photos on my blog. Thought her friends may miss her. Here are Cookie's latest photos while she celebrated her ninth year-old birthday. Do you think she has aged when compared to her younger photo? This evening when Mummy walked me to Bishan Park, I met Jack and Joey. They are really fit and active. Jack looks good for his age too.

Shinny Coat After Oatmeals

What do you all think? Does my coat get shinnier after eating oatmeals? These photos were taken this morning after eating oatmeals for dinner instead of rice. My Mummy is thinking if she should give me cod's liver oil to make my coat shinnier.

This is a wire-haired dachshund I met at the K9 Kampus today.

Cookie's growth at the bum

Miracle has happened with the growth at Cookie's bum. This morning Mummy tried to locate the growth and it was gone! It disappeared! Gone! It wasn't surgically removed. Just that Mummy has been spraying "Richard's Organics" incredible skin spray for dogs. Or may be eating oatmeals has helped Cookie recover. The growth has simply flattened by itself without any treatment from the vet. Mummy is so delighted!

Cookie's Birthday 31 August 2008

Cookie is nine years old yesterday on Sunday. Nothing special was going on... We didn't get to party or going for a long walkie walkie. Except we have human guests visited us at home. They ate mooncakes and drank Chinese tea. There was a little boy who came with his father. I was trying to smell him when he jumped onto the sofa and jumping up and down screaming. He thought I was going to eat him. Later he jumped onto his father's arm.

At night, Cookie was being naughty. She peed all over the pillows. I heard from Buttercup that tonight's dinner will be special for me and Cookie.

Shinny Coat and Fur

This photo was taken before I began my oatmeal dinner. Do you think my fur is shinny? Now that I am on oatmeal dinner, Mummy hopes that I get shinny coat and fur. My shampoo does contain oatmeal ingredient.

Oatmeal replaces rice

Instead of rice, our dinner is now consist of oatmeal. At first I didn't know what it was. I was just licking it. Mummy has to feed me spoon by spoon. But now I am loving it, gobbling it up quickly. Mummy is eating oatmeal herself to lower her cholesterol level.

Changi Village and Beach

This morning at 5:30 am, Mummy and Butter Cup packed us up into the van and off we went to Changi Airport. After that we went to Changi Beach and Changi Village. We have a nice walk and beautiful scenery along the beach. We met four unleashed dogs roaming freely, they were not stray dogs. We sat at a coffee shop for breakfast. Later we went for a swim. The wave was really huge as there were speedboats. We missed the sun rise at the beach.

Doggie Paradise Continues...

In the doggie paradise, doggies swimming happily.

Here is a Giant Schnauzer with long tail.

The Beagle is Mimi. She is very friendly! We have a great Sunday today. I ate meat balls and frozen yogurt.

Doggie Paradise

Today we hitched a ride to doggie paradise on our friend, Dewey's, car. Here is me relaxing during the ride.

And here is Cookie sleeping on the way.....

When we reached the doggie paradise, there were already many doggies out and running!

So many friends around...

Dewey is here for dog obedient lesson conducted by my Mummy and Butetrcup. Dewey was adopted from SPCA a year ago. Basically he is a very friendly dog. It's just that he doesn't listen to his Mama. He will bolt off jumping over a fence and off he goes...

Cookie's Growth in the Butt

As Cookie's growth in the butt is geting bigger and redder, Mummy thought it is a good idea to let the sea water cure it. So we went to Sentosa Tanjong Beach. We met good old friend, Duffy, the Scottish Terrier. After the beach, Mummy checked that Cookie's growth is no longer reddish, it is back to pinkish. So the sea water must have helped. Anyway, it is time to check with the vet again.

Eating Durian

It's the durian season in the month of July! Mummy has been eating a lot of the $2/durian from China Town. Almost everyday. The durian meat is sweet and golden yellow. We love it as well. Everytime we see the durians on the floor, we will go over and smell them. We have to be careful around the thorny fruit, may get pricked if we bump into it.

Pasir Ris Park

We have a surprise trip today. Instead of the usual Bishan Park or Sentosa, Mummy brought us to Pasir Ris Park. This is the first time in my life to visit Pasir Ris Park. It is so huge. We spent five hours going from one end to the other. I swam and played fetch game at the beach. Cookie climbed up and slide down the giant slide at the children's play ground.

Mummy met a group of Filipino BBQ at the beach. They were so nice to offer Mummy and Buttercup BBQ chicken wings. Yummy!

When we reached home, Cookie and I had raw oxtail to chew. After our shower we had eggs. We love Sunday!

Chewing Ox Tail again

Apparently my losing teeth did not affect my ability to chew on ox tail. Mummy has been giving me skinny ox tail to chew on, and I am able to chew and eat it. I am so happy! I am still able to play fetch squeaky ball game too without my front teeth! As I hate the tooth brush, mummy has been using gauze to rub on my teeth.

Molar extraction.. oouch!

Went to the vet for teeth scaling this morning.... Came back missing a back molar and four fronth teeth. Back molar was cracked and root decaying, so has to be extracted. Four front teeth (three below and one top) were loose, so have to be removed. No tumor found in the mouth cavity. The lump around the throat has reduced in size, so continue with antibiotics treatment. From inside the mouth, the lump looks like a hardened skin, according to the vet.

On the ride home I moved about in the carrier noisily. Once home, Cookie checked me out and I couldn't walk properly. My hind legs were weak. At home I kissed Mummy all over...
I am now taking PlaqueOff which contains especially selected seaweed: D1070. My drinking water is also added with Biotene, which contains two natural enzyme system that help remove plaque. Every night Mummy is also brushing my teeth using PetzLife Oral Care Gel, wild salmon oil.

I am only 5 years old, and I have lost six teeth..... Mummy is very worried...

Discover a lump around the throat

This morning Mummy woke up very concerned as she found a lump on my right side of the throat. She called the vet to make an appointment for this afternoon. Suddenly Cookie's buttock small growth seems so insignificant.

We are back from the vet in the afternoon. The vet treated the swollen throat as an infection. So I was given 2 types of antibiotics. Mummy fed me the pills with yummy food.

This Wednesday I am still going to the vet for teeth scaling. The vet will have a better look at my swollen throat then. The vet also have a look at Cookie's growth and she thought that it was nothing serious.

At K9 Kampus this morning, I was enjoying myself and eating the lamb meatballs. The swollen throat didn't bother me a bit. I was running around the compound actively playing and barking.

A small growth found on Cookie's butt

Mummy found a small growth, about the size of a Singapore one cent coin, on Cookie's butt (not the anus). The growth is regular in shape. So instead of going for a teeth scaling, Cookie is seeing the vet about the growth. Hope it's nothing serious!

I have gum problem....Mummy has made an appointment for me to undergo teeth scaling and extraction. It's genetic. Cookie is also coming with me, she needs a teeth scaling as well. Cookie is 9 years old and she hasn't lost any of her teeth yet. She has good teeth. The last time when Cookie has her teeth scaling was 4 years ago. I am 5 years old, and I am losing my front teeth..... This is my first time to have teeth scaling....

My Receding Gum

Mummy has made an appointment for me to see a vet in two weeks' time, as the vet is fully booked. Well, my front tooth has fallen off... Now there is another front tooth which is shaky. My gum is receding.

My front tooth fell off

I don't know what happened, but one of my front tooth fell off. So now there are only 3 front teeth left on me. And I am only 5 years old. I think my front tooth fell off when I was chewing on kangaroo's back bone on Thursday. Oh well.....

Serangoon Garden

We went to Serangoon Garden this evening. We went to Chomp Chomp.. 'no pets allowed' sign. We went to the hawker centre, again 'no pets allowed' sign. We went to Cafe Cartel, big big 'no pets allowed' sign. We hang out at the pet shop for a while. We found a pub with alfresco sitting area. Mummy asked if dogs are allowed outside. Yes! So we have our nice dinner at the pub. This pub is not the same one where Mummy had the rubber lamb chop (Blog posted on Jan 26, 2008).

Pawtobello Dog Cafe

We finally went to Pawtobello dog cafe in town after hearing from my doggies friends how cool the place is to hang out. It was really crowded with many doggies. I ate 'muttloaf' and Cookie ate 'something fishy'. There was this small black dog (miniature pinscher) picking fight with me. Cookie jumped down from the chair to fight the dog off.
